Timber Timbre
folk/blues/ballad/rockabillyTimber Timbre are a three piece blues-folk outfit from Canada and their name is inspired by their earliest recordings in a timber framed cabin located in the wooded outskirts of Bobcaygeon, Ontario get it?
Timber Timbre; the timbre of timber? Now whilst that might sound awful twee, a little coy and sure as hell delightful; I can assure the music of
Timber Timbre is certainly not. This is the case, especially so, when the band came around to recording last years aptly titled
Creep On Creepin On. You see, the kind of blues-folk that this threesome deal in spins yarns of séances, witchcraft, murder and the swamp, and its musicality is infused with the spirit of rockabilly and sexed up horror movie soundtracks. Their last album saw them shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize (think the Canadian equivalent of the
Mercury Music Prize or
Welsh Music Prize,
ahem), which helps show theres substance here beyond their spooky, voodoo style - including haunting ghost ballads. http://youtu.be/m8XftanUJa8
