12 Problems Only My Chemical Romance Fans Will Understand
9. Hating The Daily Mail

In 2008 The Daily Mail ran a headline titled Why No Child Is Safe From The Sinister Cult Of Emo. The article detailed the tragic suicide of 13-year-old Hannah, blaming her death on a sinister teenage craze that romanticises death.
The article outrageously misunderstood and misrepresented several prominent rock bands including Blink 182 and Good Charlotte. But My Chemical Romance were targeted much more intensely than the others, the writer blaming them for encouraging self-harm and suicide. The article might have been hilarious if it weren't so dangerous and spiteful it described the black parade as a place emos believe they'll go when they die. Anyone who listens to the band and has heard what front man Gerard Way has to say knows that My Chemical Romance is meant to empower and bring joy. But that didn't stop the media from picking up the story and running what effectively became a smear campaign against the band. The dialogue between fans and The Daily Mail ultimately culminated in Way stating during a show:Nothing is worth hurting yourself over. Nothing is worth taking your life over. Do you understand? F-ck The Daily Mail.Well said, Gerard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWSFiC3FVoE
