7. Art of Burning Water
sludge/noise/hardcore Almost getting long in the tooth now, having formed in 2001, but I only very recently got introduced to this noisier than noise three piece from London. Boasting a violently dense sound that is equally expansive in dirge as it is relentlessly grinding. The bands music and style brings to mind the sounds of sludge and noise rock with a real punk attitude, and hardcore bile. Following the punk mantra of anything goes the band deliver a punishing noise that veers between any number of extreme greats like
Godlfesh and
Swans to the rhythmic grooves of the
Melvins all the while playing riffs that sound somewhere between black metal and low-end thrash but slowed down to doom metal pace. Its nasty, nasty stuff. http://youtu.be/_zXDLLrEEUw
