13 Greatest Ever Metallica Live Performances

9. Bader Field, Atlantic City, 2012

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUyzqq4wbJk#t=115 Some of the greatest moments in musical history were borne out of failure and tragedy, and Metallica€™s all-too-brief flirtation with their own festival in 2012 and 2013 was one such case. Though the 2013 version included a number of rarities - like €œCarpe Diem Baby€ - the band€™s decision to play both Ride The Lightning and The Black Album in their entireties for the 2012 festival pipped that for the best of the years. And if that wasn€™t enough for fans seeking more for their bucks, Metallica also played €œEscape€ for the first time live - rather fittingly at their own festival. Yes, the festival proved a financial disaster, and was cancelled (though there€™s a chance it will be back), but with performances like the Ride The Lightning set of 2012, it€™s a travesty to think fans might be robbed of further rare opportunities.
