14 Best Synthwave Albums You MUST Listen To

11. Pertubator - Dangerous Days (2014)

As with the previous entry, Pertubator has no trouble with wearing its references and homages on its sleeve. Formed by french black metal guitarist James Kent in 2012, Pertubator released his first album in that year, called Terror 404. A few EP's later, paired with some success from song inclusions on games like the critically acclaimed Hotline Miami series saw a steady progression from the artist.

But it was 2014's Dangerous Days that blew things up for the artist, with hit single Future Club still one of both his and the genre's most played songs today, sitting at nearly eight million plays on Spotify alone.

Much like Carpenter Brut, Pertubator's sound is much more reminiscent of a time past, that we all can attune to. Cyberpunk, Ghost in the Shell, old zombie movies and countless other references make Pertubator's work both recognisable to fans of the like, and welcome to newcomers wanting something different.

Brooding instrumentals, high octane and some sinister vocal tracks make Pertubator's catalogue a great variety, with no two albums ever sounding the same, but each equally dark and sinister.
