15 Facts You Didn't Know About Blink-182

13. Travis Barker Is Not The Original Drummer

The drummer on the first blink-182 albums is actually Scott Raynor. Raynor met Tom DeLonge at a Battle of the Bands competition and the two became friends, later they were introduced to Hoppus by the girlfriend of a mutual friend and that's how the trio remained until trouble started.

Years later, Raynor dropped out of a blink-182 West Coast tour less than an hour before the show started, leaving the band in a tricky situation where there only solution was to ask the drummer of the support band to play.

That drummer was Travis Barker, and he had a solid 45 minutes to learn the entirety of the band's set - no small feat unless you're one of the best punk drummers to ever do it. Like the drumming God that he is, Barker picked it all up and smashed the set.

There’s a lot of contention about whether Raynor eventually left the band to go to rehab or was kicked out because of alcohol addiction in 1998, however as soon as Barker played with blink it was clear that he was the obvious fit.

Thus one of rocks tightest trios was formed.
