15 Greatest Classic Rock Guitar Solos
8. Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
The song that kicked off Ozzy Osbourne's solo career, "Crazy Train" is one of the standout singles from the former Black Sabbath frontman's debut solo venture Blizzard Of Ozz.
The track itself is intended to be a critique of the Cold War, but it still stands as a fantastic heavy metal song in it's own right. On top of all this, "Crazy Train" serves as an amazing introduction to Ozzy Osbourne's solo material, which has forged a career that is still going strong today thanks to the success of this song and plenty of others that were released afterwards.
The true man of the hour, however, is the late Randy Rhoads, whose work on the guitar is some of the finest that the genre was ever able to offer. More akin to a classical piece than a solo from a metal song, the energy and complexity of Rhoads' playing is still adored by legions of fans to this day.
Unhesitating, magnificent and infinitely impressive, Randy Rhoads' work and talent is still just as creative now as it was back in 1980. Other brilliant guitarists, such as Dimebag Darrel, John Petrucci and Zakk Wylde have all cited Rhoads as an influence, and after hearing his work on "Crazy Train", it's easy to see why.
