20 Best Album Covers Of 2021

13. A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 2 - Common

Common’s discography is one of the most colourful in the history of hip hop. That is metaphorically speaking, with the Chicago born frequently switching musical genres and styles throughout his 30-year run.

You’ll find classic boom bap on Can I Borrow A Dollar?, electro-rock on Electric Circus and jazzy lounge music on Let Love. It’s also true literally speaking, as from Like Water For Chocolate and Be to Finding Forever and Black America Again, Common always had an eye for an elegant and artful cover.

Visually, pt. 2 continues the story told on pt.1’s cover: three black children carrying their instruments against a background of bright and radiant colours. Common said this album was “meant to emulate what a greater day would sound and feel like”, and the political symbolism of the cover won’t go over any heads.

On a sidenote, the artwork for the album’s first single When We Move, which follows the same recipe, is easily one of the best single covers of 2021 as well.
