14. Garbology - Aesop Rock & Blockhead
“Garbology: the study of the material discarded by a society to learn what it reveals about social or cultural patterns.”
A year after his somewhat divisive Spirit World Field Guide, indie hip hop darling Aesop Rock came back alongside long-time collaborator Blockhead to deliver another outstanding exhibition of fine lyricism. The artwork was drawn by Justin “Coro” Kaufman, who was also the artist behind Bestiary’s cover, and depicts the most ornate, flamboyant and weirdly beautiful trashcan you’re ever likely to see.
Cool neologism, cool graphic illustration, and here’s your album cover. Folks say Aesop’s difficult. Nah, he’s real easy.
