20 Greatest Electronic Music Albums Of All Time

1. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

The grandaddy of all electronic music producers is arguably Richard D. James, more commonly known as Aphex Twin, AFX and occasionally The Tuss. James has been producing music since before he was born - or at least, his mastery of the medium suggests a preternatural connection to electronic sounds. His Selected Ambient Works 85-92 brings together some of his earliest classics in one sumptuous collection of ambient-tinged percussive tunes which roll out of your speakers in successive waves of beauty. Little wonder that Warp described it as "the birthplace and the benchmark of modern electronic music". If you have a chance to check out Selected Ambient Works 85-92, see if you can identify any of the samples - there's RoboCop lurking away in there if you keep your ears peeled. What other electronic music albums would you include on this list? Why not let us know in the comments below?
