A similiarly lush and expansive approach to synthesizers can be found in an electronic album of much older vintage, and one which plenty of people who aren't into that style of music will no doubt be familiar with. Vangelis's soundtrack to Blade Runner set the bar by which electronic-orientated movie soundtracks would be measured. All too often film scores which utilise electronic music date quicker than the films themselves - think of any number of 80s movies featuring synth stabs and processed beats and they sit very much in that decade. Blade Runner was something else - beautiful, haunting and mysterious and a perfect fit to the neo-noir sensibilities of the movie.
