Metal Militia Kill 'Em All is what happens when a bunch of kids with nothing to lose, an arsenal of riffs (many pilfered from Megadeth's ousted Dave Mustaine admittedly) and the unforgiving will to succeed at any cost release their debut album. Metallica welded NWOBHM influences (Drummer Lars Ulrich was obsessed with Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Iron Maiden et all) and Punk Rock to form a whole new genre; faster, heavier and without the glitz and glam associated with ageing hard rockers who were frequently dropping the ball. Metallica had real bite while Rock dinosaurs like Rainbow and Kiss were struggling to fit their dentures. "Hit the Lights" blasted out of the blocks, 100% Thrash and committed to knocking you flat on your behind, "The Four Horsemen" was basically Metallica showing off, an epic which weaves through a myriad of tempo changes practically screaming 'look at what we can already do', "Whiplash" was the obligatory stand-up-and-be-counted instruction manual for the fans and "Seek And Destroy" was a call to arms that still closes the band's live set to this day. Kill 'Em All is fun, fast and ground zero for a genre which went on to conquer the globe for almost a decade. Metallica would go on to literally kill all the competition with their next four albums, but it all started here. Consider Thrash Metal well and truly invented and the albums original title sums it up nicely....Metal Up Your A**!

I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things. Most of the time I'll be writing nonsense but occasionally I may surprise myself and appear half-way knowledgable.....but you can be the judge of that. Thanks for your fleeting attention!
