4. Good Fortune PJ Harvey
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDBZZ3uvimE This is a tale about the wonder that is the first few dates with someone new and the exhilaration that brings the feeling of invulnerability, staying up ridiculously late, and getting such a rush from the feeling that you just want to throw your hands in the air. It's another song that is all about us against the rest of the world, the song closes with PJ Harvey dubbing the lovers 'A modern day Bonnie and Clyde'. The music and the words perfectly deliver the adrenaline that comes with a new love. In the background the tune creates the setting for this rush of adrenaline, the verse keeps it to two simple chords, not a million miles from 'Gloria' by Them, which told a similar story. 'Good fortune' is a ridiculously happy song, there are no doubts, angst or misery - it's literally the sound of anything being possible "Things I once thought unbelievable in my life, have all taken place" The video brings the story to life, we've all been there one can only imagine that she's leaving the flat of her new love, very early in the morning, alive with satisfied lust and jumping for joy about the evening she's just had - at one point it's like she's going to burst into the dance routine from 'Singin' in the rain' - oh, and she throws her arms in the air too... I've never heard or seen a better articulation about meeting someone who knocks your socks off. Watch the video and leap in the air.

What makes music fantastic? Star quality, amazing music, breathtaking lyrics and the ability to bring something new to the table, even if that means a new take on the classics. That's what I love to listen to and write about.
