20 Punk Rock Albums You Must Hear Before You Die
10. The Stooges - The Stooges
The Stooges were so influential in the punk rock movement that they were making punk rock music a decade before it was even a recognized subgenre and the Ramones and Sex Pistols took over New York and London, respectively.
First released in 1969, The Stooges' eponymous debut album has gone on to retroactively become the single most pivotal proto-punk album out there. And even though the album isn't terribly long, it still contains some timeless punk anthems, such as No Fun and I Wanna Be Your Dog.
Since this album's release, The Stooges' frontman Iggy Pop has become one of the most iconic figures in punk rock history, up there with the likes of Johnny Rotten, Joey Ramone, and Joan Jett (so much so, in fact, that the band would later rebrand as Iggy & the Stooges.) And this album was where it all started.
