20 Punk Rock Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

9. The Runaways - The Runaways

Speaking of Joan Jett, lest we forget her first band, The Runaways. The group essentially was to Jett what Generation X was to Billy Idol. However, also like Generation X, The Runaways were still very good and very influential in their own right, especially in regards to the all-female glam punk outfit's first studio album.

The Runaways' eponymous album is mostly remembered for containing their timeless hit Cherry Bomb (which would eventually go one to be one of the prominent tracks featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack), but it also had quite a bit more to offer.

Thanks to songs like Cherry Bomb, Thunder, Is This Day or Night?, and a fantastic cover of Lou Reed's Rock & Roll, which are sung passionately by Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, this record is one to be played over and over again.
