Nominees: 'Spirit' - Beyonce, 'Bad Guy' - Billie Eilish, '7 Rings' - Ariana Grande, 'Truth Hurts' - Lizzo, 'You Need To Calm Down' - Taylor Swift
A similar methodology to the previous award's voting should be applied to Best Pop Solo Performance as well. 'Truth Hurts' and 'Bad Guy' will have a chance to be recognized later in the show, narrowing this star-powered category down to three candidates.
'You Need To Calm Down' is coming off of a huge night at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, including a win for Video Of The Year, but it feels unlikely that Swift would sweep the big pop categories when you look at her competition.
That leaves '7 Rings' and 'Spirit' remaining, both of which could have a good shot at winning. Of the two, '7 Rings' is also up for Record Of The Year though, while Beyonce is nowhere to be found at the top of the show.
That alone makes a win here for Grande feel likely, even if it probably means she won't be capturing one of the night's headline awards.
