30 Grime Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

29. JME - Integrity>

JME makes this list for two reasons. Firstly, he is undoubtedly one of grime's leading figures. A co-founder of Boy Better Know, he is one of the scene's curators - often giving others a leg-up in his own place, and thus arguably failing to achieve the fame that he undoubtedly deserves. The major reason for his inclusion, though, is that his new album Integrity> is an absolutely brilliant piece of contemporary grime. Not only is it JME's best work, it is probably one of the finest full-lengths to rise from the grime scene in some time. The lyrics are poetic. The music is crazier than practically anything in even the most underground of clubs. Tracks like Man Don't Care, Amen, The Money, Again, Pulse 8 and the absolutely barn-storming Don't @ Me are fantastic - not least because they feature incredible guest spots from Skepta, Wiley, D Double E, Frisco and Shorty. For his latest album, JME has brought his major talents together - his storytelling lyricism, his ear for crazy production, and his excellent curatorial powers - to create a statement that doesn't just remind everyone of his own abilities; it also reminds the world that grime is still going just as strongly as ever.
