Spoiler alert: this won't be the last you see of the Arctic Monkeys on this list. Their debut album is clearly a more defining musical component of the 2000s, but Favourite Worst Nightmare deserves recognition for showcasing a bleaker sense of maturity. Sharper in terms of production, but unquestionably rougher in tone, the LP sees Alex Turner and the boys tell stories of lust and nostalgia without losing any of their streetwise confidence.
