11. Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner

Grime is only just starting to make waves in the USA - aided a lot by Kanye West's recent BRIT Awards performance, in which he invited Skepta and other leading lights of the genre to tote flamethrowers onstage with him. It has, however, ruled the underground rap scene on this side of the Atlantic for around a decade now. One key missing figure in Kanye's entourage was the man who brought grime closest to truly breaching the mainstream (before ultimately becoming a pop star himself), Dizzee Rascal. Released when he was just 17, debut LP Boy In Da Corner acted as the genre's manifesto to a wider audience, generating much hype thanks to Rascal's distinctive yelping vocals and flawless machine-gun flow.
