1. The Medley - Abbey Road [The Beatles]
When the Beatles finally got to making Abbey Road, the band members were almost at each other's throats, frustrated with their different artistic directions and business troubles with their label Apple. But the Fab Four put down their fighting gloves for a short time and decided to deliver one last special album for all the fans to enjoy.
The first side of the record takes you through a joy ride of tunes spanning soul, ballads, children's songs, and even heavy metal. But the second side of the record is where it really gets interesting.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney had many different songs that they had left unfinished and decided to combine all of them into one grandiose piece of music on the second side of the record. Starting with "You Never Give Me Your Money," the medley lasts about 16 minutes and is by far one of the greatest musical achievements the Beatles have ever made.
And the record ends with a suite that goes from "Golden Slumbers" up until the song "The End," which showcases the great solo techniques each Beatle had to offer. Even if the album truly ends on the leftover snippet "Her Majesty," the medley as a whole serves as a great finish to the Beatles' already stellar recording career.
