5. Trent Reznor Released An Album Produced By Timbaland (And Featuring Jay-Z)
It's hard to believe anyone actually fell for this one...but they did.
In 2009, Nine Inch Nails front-man Trent Reznor announced the release of a new album that would mark a radical departure from his usual heavy sound. Reznor stated that he had teamed up with artists like Bono, Jay-Z, Fergie and Justin Timerlake for the record, and that it was to be put out under the Nine Inch Nails name. It was even possible to buy the album on his website, though this ultimately revealed the nature of the hoax, as fans were greeted by a custom Blue Screen Error revealing the whole thing was one big prank.
