AC/DC - EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
10. Flick of the Switch (1983)
Yet another underrated album released from the 1980’s, Flick
of the Switch is certainly the strongest of the three mid-eighties albums.
While falling victim to some of the same issues as both Fly on the Wall and
Blow Up Your Video, the stand out tracks from Flick of the Switch bring an
extra edge of power to the album. The album is the last to feature drummer Phil
Rudd until his return with 1995’s Ballbreaker.
The title track, Flick of the Switch, was released as the album’s second single, bringing the same sound and feel that fans love from AC/DC. The album’s lead single, Guns for Hire, is another stand out track for the album. The third single from the album is by far one of its weakest showings. Nervous Shakedown is much slower than your average AC/DC song, and while loud fails to bring the same energy.
The album tracks are also a mixture. Some stand out tracks include Bedlam in Belgium, Brain Shake and Landslide. Brain Shake and Landslide are much faster songs compared to most of the album, harkening back to classic AC/DC songs like Rocker. While critically the album was shunned as being unimaginative, even by AC/DC’s own Malcolm Young, Flick of the Switch still has a lot to offer classic rock fans.
