7. Waters Rising
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyB1CNAsRjk Creed fans always knew Mark Tremonti had one hell of a voice; his backing vocals on their many records had an incredible sense of warmth and projection that sometimes even Scott Stapp paled in comparison to. For fourth album Fortress, Alter Bridge were completely comfortable in switching things up to try something new. That meant more complex song arrangements with the likes of Cry of Achilles and the title track, unorthodox topsy-turvy riffs like Cry a River - and switching up vocal duties to let Mark lead an entire song.
Why you need it: Tremonti's voice just screams hard rock. He's always had the propensity to walk the line between being emotionally engaging and completely stadium-filling, and if his two solo albums didn't do it for you (
check them out, they're spectacular), having him front a track where he really gets to show how all his vocal coaching has come together, is only topped off by one of the
finest solos of his career.
