Bring Me The Horizon: Ranking Every Album Worst To Best
3. Suicide Season
BMTH’s second studio album, Suicide Season, is undoubtedly the most instantly recognisable in their discography. It’s also likely to be the record that introduced most fans to the band. Heavy hitters like The Comedown, Chelsea Smile, Football Season Is Over and Diamonds Aren’t Forever created the soundtrack for a historical period of long fringes, colourful t-shirts, skinny jeans and pit-karate.
Not only did this album introduce waves of scene-kids to BMTH, but it was probably the first time that these emo unicorns started listening to metalcore. The band’s sound, their look, their attitude- it all just fit perfectly with the times and did a great deal of good bringing the metalcore genre to the mainstream, particularly in the UK.
Over a decade on from Suicide Season’s release, we still see bands trying to emulate the sound and popularity of this mammoth of a record. It would be hard to over-exaggerate just how much this album did for what was once a niche sub-genre.
Rightfully so, as it absolutely slaps.
Whether you loved them or hated them, BMTH were everywhere at this time and showed no intention of slowing down. Here’s hoping they keep the wheels in motion for many more years to come.
