Bury Tomorrow - Better Below: EP Review
The latest EP from rising British metalcore group looks to impress.
Bury Tomorrow have wasted little time in proving themselves as one of British metal’s biggest future talents. Forming in 2006, the Southampton based metalcore group enjoyed a consistent but rapid rise to fame throughout the 2010’s. With the release of their sixth studio album, ‘Cannibal’, being postponed until July, Bury Tomorrow released this EP in the meantime to maintain their fan’s interest and attention.
This four-track release opens with the title-track, which quickly establishes the heavy, atmospheric tone of the EP. An upbeat yet powerful tempo embodies all the positives of Bury Tomorrow’s style while hinting at signs of musical progression. ‘Choke’ maintains this promising standard with more brutal vocals and thumping drumming.
‘Cannibal’, the title-track for the forthcoming studio album, is yet another astonishingly forceful metalcore stunner. Crushing vocals enhance the impact of the song significantly, before ‘The Grey (VIXI)’ closes this compact release with more conviction laced authority.
Overall this is a fantastic EP which builds enormous anticipation for the ‘Cannibal’ album. If the full record is as good as this then it could be one of the best metalcore records of the year.
