DOOM: Every Album Ranked From Worst To Best

3. MF DOOM - Mm..Food

The last wholly fantastic DOOM album sees him taking a more jovial, goofy approach to his own work. He approaches the throwaway idea of a concept album relating to food as anything but a novelty.

After the solid run of Take Me To Your Leader, Vaudeville Villain, and Madvillainy (lest we forget, these were all released over the course of a year), DOOM decides to make an honest-to-goodness party record. Drunken reveries like "One Beer" further the celebration. It's an album by a modern day Dionysus, indulging in whatever he wants and gathering no shame from his hedonism.

In terms of production, DOOM has rarely been stronger than his work on "Kon Karne" and "Vomitspit." The tracks are so consistently slick that they can carry the album on pure instrumentation. On top of the musicality of the songs, the lyrics are equally bright. The sleazy-yet-endearing nature of DOOM's lounge singer delivery is its strongest suit.

The problem with a lot of DOOM's work is the features he includes on his albums. Most often, they tend to bog down the work by not entirely matching up with his delivery or the subject matter. But on Mm..Food, the verses by Count Bass D, Mr. Fantastik, and Empress Stahhr enhance the warm quality of the album.
