2. The Offspring
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wHNHpwi7Do They might be somewhat unfairly remembered as a gimmick band by some, thanks to the mainstream chart success of the likes of Pretty Fly For A White Guy, but The Offspring remain as important to American punk music as Green Day and particularly Bad Religion (who played on the same Friday bill here.) They might have grown up a lot since the release of seminal album Smash 20 years ago, but the sentiments remain as pertinent and the skill behind the music as admirable, and somewhat inevitably, the set that the band put together, which starts with a run through of the 1994 album, is a steady stream of banging brilliance. Their brilliance undoubtedly left a few scratched heads among faithful fans as to why they werent deemed to be Main Stage headliners as they were back in 2008, and though Avenged Sevenfold deserved their shot, its a shame Smash couldnt have been celebrated in the same terms as Hybrid Theory would be a day later.
