Eminem: 10 Best Songs You've Never Heard
1. The Anthem (Sway King And Tech Feat. RZA, Tech N9ne, Eminem, Xzibit & More)
The ensemble featured in this collaboration alone makes this song sound like a ubiquitous legend that would've been exchanged in school playgrounds. The type or rumour fuelled by fantastical possibilities in lieu of something that actually exists. They do say that rumours are always based on the truth, and they don't get much more genuine than this.
One of the highlights, if not the primary one, is that it proves that, even from an early age, Eminem had the skill to go toe to toe on the same level of some of rap's most decorated legends. Alleviating himself of some tension in the process as he goes on a patented, early Eminem style tirade.
Admittedly, Eminem isn't the standout - based on skill anyway - but he certainly stands out in regards to unrelenting masochism. His fierce, unapologetically unhinged style prevalently shines through, especially when directly compared to Chino XL's miserable attempt later down the line.
For only his second year in prominence, it's not only astounding how quickly he was involved in something as grandiose as this, it may well have been a subtle metaphor for the new age of rap coming through, with the Real Slim Shady showing more than real promise.
