Standout Lyrical Attack: 'Christina Aguilera better switch me chairs, so I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst/ And hear them argue over who she gave head to first' taken from the track 'The Real Slim Shady'. I think at the time of the feud with Christina Aguilera, it was very easy to agitate Eminem, particularly if you came from a pop background. Eminem was wrongly getting bracketed in with the likes of N*Sync and Britney Spears due to the commercial success of 'My Name Is' and as an inspiring rapper seeking respect for your rhymes, that would definitely start to grate on you. Aguilera chose the song 'My Name Is' as she compiled a list of favourite songs for MTV to play, a show that Eminem happened to be watching. She would go on to say that he was cute but married; stating that she heard a rumour that he killed his wife on one of his records. Eminem felt as though she was putting him on blast and would rather she didn't comment on his personal life at all. He replied by putting rumours he had heard about her into one of his song 'The Real Slim Shady'. Whilst the Marshall Mathers LP did throw shots at Christina Aguilera, it also featured negative feelings towards Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Will Smith and Ricky Martin. As I said, Em didn't want to be placed in the same bracket as those in the pop world, throwing punches in all directions to clear out some space for himself.
