Every Green Day Album Closing Song Ranked From Worst To Best

1. See The Light - 21st Century Breakdown

Five years after American Idiot took the world by storm, Green Day were back with a new album, and what an album it was.

21st Century Breakdown was a hulking 18-song beast split into three distinct acts. At the end of the record, which also contains Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Know Your Enemy, and 21 Guns, comes a triumphant full stop at the end of an emotional rollercoaster - See the Light.

A reflection on the events of this punk opera, See the Light is an optimistic finale that offers up a glimmer of hope for the future, that those who see no point in living might one day find their purpose.

It's delivered with enough enthusiasm and energy to restart a human heart, as Billie Joe belts out the chorus over a cacophony of uplifting guitars. It's the perfect ending to such a monumental undertaking and the best song Green Day have ever closed an album with.
