Every Queen Album Ranked Worst To Best

4. The Game

8th studio album (1980); UK #1; US #1

Queen's only number-one album in the US is easily one of their best. More radio-friendly than stadium-friendly, The Game signified a shift for the band and was released to lukewarm reviews, but has grown in popularity overtime.

The opening track, which gives the album its name and encourages people not to 'play hard to get,' makes for a refreshing piece of advice in a world where admitting your feelings for someone is often seen as a sign of weakness. The rockabilly Crazy Little Thing Called Love and the bass-driven Another One Bites The Dust, which were the band's only Hot 100 number ones, need no introduction, and the closing track, Save Me (which should have been a bigger hit than it was), brings the band closer to its glorious origins, having the best 'anthem' potential in the entire tracklist.

The only swing-and-possible-miss is Don't Try Suicide - though it's likely a tongue-in-cheek approach to a serious subject, it seems a little misguided. It's also more interesting to debate on the meaning of the song than it is to hear it, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Key Tracks: All of the above (save for the suicide song).

Fun Fact: Another One Bites The Dust, Queen's biggest-selling hit, was almost unreleased as a single, if not for the push of a King - Mr. Michael Jackson himself.

Renato hails from Portugal but is obsessed with the US and UK charts, because why not? He also writes books with dozens of protagonists and will be remiss if you can't remember every single one of their names.
