1. No Light, No Light
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIi3wTkHMLI And at number one is the song she was born to write, "No light, not light" is a song sung in two voices - the verses are meek, melancholy and mellifluous, the choruses are angry, agonised and assertive. Everything that Florence was building up to was realised in this song the frustration that love can be, the heartbreak that it brings and the hopeless desire to fix what is beyond repair, but you still try and fix it, despite all warnings to the contrary. Florence isn't the victim here this is a song of adultery and combines the submissive "I'd do anything to make you stay" with confrontational ""You want a revelation, some kind of resolution but it's a conversation I can't have tonight." The video is a performance recorded just before 'Ceremonials' was released, I've not seen such passion and commitment from a band since I saw the Smiths. Astonishing and proof that even bright blue eyes can break your heart. I can't wait to hear what she comes up with next.

What makes music fantastic? Star quality, amazing music, breathtaking lyrics and the ability to bring something new to the table, even if that means a new take on the classics. That's what I love to listen to and write about.
