Mark Tremonti's 10 Best Guitar Solos

1. Blackbird

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz_j7nVCJJ0 Most fans will have seen this one coming, but it stands to reason that no matter how many times you see this performed live, or how many times (if you're a guitarist) you play that ending run, Blackbird is Alter's magnum opus, and one that if the band were born in a different time would have them up there in the headline slot instead of currently just under it. One of the best instrumental pieces of music ever written, and done so with the best intentions - to pay tribute to a fallen friend who gave singer Myles Kennedy his first guitar - Blackbird is elevated to a whole new level thanks to the solo progression somewhat connoting the idea of a gentle soul departing the Earth. Heavy stuff we're sure you'll agree, but thanks to this being a duel solo with Myles himself first setting up the perfect way for Tremonti to come in, their styles play off each other perfectly, meaning that when all is said and done Blackbird's solo composition is one for the ages, and a piece that can be endlessly dissected by everyone from newcomers to masters, each finding something they love within its runtime. Are there any that you would throw in that we've missed out? Let us know which you would swap around - or remove entirely - in the comments!
