Marvel Cinematic Universe: Soundtrack Scores Ranked From Worst To Best

22. Iron Man 2

Jon Favreau had wanted John Debney to work on the first Iron Man film but the composer had not been available at the time. By the time that this film was in production, much attention had been given to the hard rock elements from the first film.

AC/DC produced a soundtrack for the film, one that is peppered throughout the movie and is at times slightly overbearing. It certainly manages to drown out much of Debney's score, though that is not to say that they don't compliment each other in their own way. Debney manages to create a theme for Tony that is both bombastic and industrial.

The music that plays alongside Ivan's creation of his own suit and other appearances in the film is a darker, slightly more dramatic creation. Debney manages to give a bit of heart to what is essentially a one-dimensional character. However, much of the rest of the soundtrack pales somewhat, falling into that middle-ground that the film itself tends to exist in.

That is not to say that the score for Iron Man 2 is bad. Simply, it filled a role in the background, barely rising above the screeching vocals of Brian Johnson.
