Miley Cyrus' long awaited fourth studio album was released at the beginning of October. Fans stood with baited breath anticipating what kind of crazy Miley was going to release on the world but in many cases the result has been a bit of a disappointment. Of course, there are a few innovative tracks on the album such as Wrecking Ball and FU but the overall consensus is that the album is sadly distinctly average. Perhaps if Miley had put as much effort into her album as she has into her twerking routine, it might have been a better musical achievement.

1. Adore You

This first track, much like the album itself, is a mixture of good and bad. The verses are slow and could definitely be described as rambling however the chorus is catchy and somewhat more upbeat leaving you humming along even on the first listen. Miley has recently suggested that this may be the next single to be released from the album although it is unlikely that it could match the recent successes of We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball. Although it is never explicitly mentioned, it is most likely that this song was inspired by ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth which makes it somewhat bittersweet in light of their recent break-up.

2. We Can't Stop

As Miley's first single from the album this track has already attracted much media attention. Lyrics such as "only God can judge us, forget the haters 'cos nobody loves ya" are worringly reminiscent of that VMA performance with Robin Thicke in August this year. Despite Miley's "hater's gon' hate" attitude the song has become a successful hit single and is definitely one of the stronger songs on the album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrUvu1mlWco

3. SMS (Bangerz) feat. Britney Spears

As a Miley fan myself I wish I could be nice about this song but in all honesty it is three minutes of absolute confusion, terrible lyrics and the word Bangerz repeatedly continuously. It begs so many questions. Why is Britney Spears on the track? Why does that man keep saying 'strut that stuff?' And, what on earth does 'Flying high up on my bird, acrophobiac, I slick down my purse, where the dollars at' mean?

4. 4 X 4 feat. Nelly

The next collaboration on the album features rap artist Nelly on this confused hip-hop mixed with country style track. As much as I'm sure Miley is trying to escape from her Hannah Montana days, I can't help but be reminded of Hoedown Throwdown with this song. In addition to his contribution to the track, Nelly has also defended Miley's recent actions, claiming that she's young so it doesn't matter and saying 'Everybody forgets the dumb s**t they did when they were her age, so they need to chill.' I don't know about you but I haven't recently twerked on stage in front of thousands of fans.
