Olympic Torch Relay Concert Line-up Announced
Dizzee Rascal and The Wanted have been announced as the headlining acts for the Olympic torch relay concert, which takes place later this year.
Rap artist Dizzee Rascal and one of the UK's top boy bands, The Wanted, have been announced as the headlining acts for the Olympic torch relay concert, which takes place later this year. Top artists will perform at five locations across the country as they celebrate the flame's 70-day relay of the UK, which begins at Lands End and finishes in London. Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow are the four cities offering locals a chance to see their favourite stars up close and personal for free. Applications for tickets will remain open until the 11th April, when ticket-holders will be selected by ballot. Cardiff are offering 16,000 tickets for its concert in Cooper's Field on the 25th May and locals will see performances from Emeli Sandé , Kids in Glass Houses and You Me At Six. All 16,000 of Glasgow's concert-goers will be joined in George Square on the 8th June by General Fiasco and Eliza Doolittle. On 24 June, Temple Newsam Park in Leeds will be home to 50,000 people who will be able to enjoy performances from Friendly Fires, Tribes and Little Comets. Birmingham will welcome the torch on the 30th June at Cannon Hill Park, but have yet to release information of their line up. London's big finale concert on the 26th of July is expected to attract 80,000 people to the capital, where they can enjoy performances from some of the UK's best talent including Dizzee Rascal, The Wanted, You Me At Six, Eliza Doolittle, Mark Ronson, Katy B, Rizzle Kicks and Wretch 32. Tickets for the event in Hyde Park will cost £15 and will go on sale at 9am on Thursday 29th March. Those wishing to register or buy tickets can do so through Ticketmaster.
