Prince: All Number 1 Songs Ranked Worst To Best

3. Let's Go Crazy

2nd number one, 1984

"Dearly beloved/We are gathered here today/To get through this thing called life."

Need a pick-me up in these depressing times? Then crank up the Prince and get crazy. The second straight number-one from the Purple Rain soundtrack is pure nonstop euphoria, from the moment that faux eulogy leads us from the organ-led intro right into the joyous mess of electronic drums, bass, and synthesisers that makes the song the banger that it is.

Sandwiched between two of Prince's most influential singles, When Doves Cry and Purple Rain, Let's Go Crazy has long been overshadowed, no longer getting the recognition it rightly deserves. But out of all his chart-toppers, it rocks the hardest. It was also the first release to be credited to Prince & The Revolution, and it's a stellar group effort between the star and his band.

Fun Fact: Prince's songs often included religious undertones, and the 'de-elevator' mentioned in this one refers to the Devil and his attempts to 'bring us down.'
