Sevendust: Kill The Flaw - 11 Tracks Reviewed & Ranked
6. Cease And Desist
Like its one-two combo namesake, Cease and Desists intro showcases everything Sevendust do better than the rest; that of extremely memorable highs, and punchy headbang-inducing lows. The track also marks my personal favourite solo of Lowerys on the album, a fantastic progression that leans into faster territory through a set of interlocking segments, all building pace perfectly. A healthier and cleaner-sounding production can make or break a band if things get a little too 'polished', but the flip-side is a sound that positively soars, which thankfully is the case here.
5. Silly Beast
Home to the chunkiest riff on the record, its instant wall-crumbling territory if you can fire this out of a suitably gargantuan set of speakers. Sevendust may be taking a less abrasive approach to their work across Kill the Flaw, losing some of the attitudinal screams fans came to love on older work, but the workmanlike chug that powers Silly Beast is one thats both comfortable and identifiable.
