9. If I Needed Someone (Rubber Soul)
We're taking another trip down George Harrison Lane with this track, quite possibly my personal favorite of The Beatles catalogue.
It's a simple love song of what could have been and features excellent guitar work from Harrison. It also helps that surely almost any listener can relate to the subject. You're in a serious relationship, you meet someone who would be a great fit if you were single, and you're thus wondering what could be under different circumstances.
This song was released as the B-side to another great song from Rubber Soul, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), but still took a back seat to that plus Nowhere Man.
Given the song's beauty and three-part harmonies, it's time it got its due recognition.
