The Revival Tour: 5 Reasons That It's The Best Gig In Music

2. The Line-Ups

This year's installment features Dave Hause, Toh Kay, Jay Malinowski, Tim McIlrath, Jenny O., Matt Pryor, Rocky Votolato, Jenny Owen Youngs and, as always, Chuck Ragan. Not all of them are performing for the whole tour, and depending on where you go to see The Revival Tour depends on who you will be seeing. Previous Revival Tour performers include Tim Barry, Ben Nichols, Brian Fallon and Laura Jane Grace. What originally started as old punk guys performing acoustic material and renditions of songs from their respective bands has grown into the most refreshing reemergence of folk music in recent years. A lot of times I've encountered people going to see two or three of the artists on the billing, and after hearing the additional performers they became avid fans. It's an old school approach of not just experiencing your favorite band live, but also getting to discover new bands that you otherwise might never have listened to. In this sense the tour does its own promotion, and judging by how the size, duration, and scale of the tour has grown regularly each year it seems to be paying off.
