2. Imagine The Possibilities
Let's suppose just for a second that ' Tom Baker' is later reappraised as an early classic of the Eighties push towards a new breed of electronica. The Human League accept an offer to appear at LEAF ( the recently-announced London Electronic Arts Festival) or the Electric Proms, and in a further surprise the instrumental's writers Phil Oakey & Adrian Wright announce that original members Martyn Ware & Ian Craig- Marsh will join them for the performance. But that's not all. A certain bescarfed gentleman emerges from the front row and begins a brilliantly long-winded introduction, including stories from his seven-year run as the Doctor. He sits down once more, and the piece that bears his name starts up accompanied by a carefully curated clip-show from his best episodes. It goes down wonderfully and both parties benefit from the enhancement to their already decent reputations, a great tribute to arguably the best-ever era of a 50-year old TV institution.
