9. Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtS0rwQK_pI By far the most "upbeat" offering on this list, Jeff Buckley's Last Goodbye is a fantastic breakup song whose emotion is somewhat veiled by its rock tones. The poignancy of the lyrics are unmistakable and immediately relatable for anyone who has ever experienced a breakup in a loving relationship that for - some reason or another - simply could not work:
"This is our last goodbye I hate to feel the love between us die But it's over Just hear this and then I'll go You gave me more to live for More than you'll ever know"
If anything, those breakups where neither party has done anything "wrong," so to speak, can be far worse than those where someone has been directly wronged. At least in those breakups caused by infidelity, there is an element of necessity. But when couple who love each other but can't go on anymore, there is always that element of "Why does this have to happen?" which is the underlying feeling I get from Last Goodbye.
