10 Authors Who Died In Mysterious Or Strange Ways

1. Gustav Kobbé (1857 – 1918)

Gustav Kobbé
The Pianolist

Gustav Kobbé was an American music critic and author, mostly on the subject of opera. His books were very much of a theme: The Complete Opera Book, Wagner’s Music-Dramas Analyzed, and the fictional Signora, a Child of the Opera House.

They say in the world of opera: "It’s not over until the fat lady sings." In Gustav’s case, it wasn't over until a plane landed on him.

Gustav loved to sail. He was out on the Great South Bay in New York when a seaplane came in to land, struck his boat, and killed him instantly. Unlucky.
