5. Discovery Island Boats

When Animal Kingdom first opened its gates in 1998, there was a boat ride that took guests around the waterways of the park.

The Discovery Island Boats were never really designed to be a main attraction but many queued, hoping to be taken on a real life Jungle Cruise. The long wait times, for a 10 minute boat ride made the attraction increasingly unpopular.

Trying their best to make the boats more attractive, Disney added in live animal exhibits where the crew would bring creatures onto the boat and explain them to the onlooking guests. The park even tried adding a radio onto the boat, imagining that there was a DJ looking down on the park from the Tree of Life.

Sadly, these attempts were short lived and the Discovery Island Boats sailed for the last time in 1999.
