Leaders are a big thing in North Korea. A really big thing! So much so that Kim Jong-il was revered as a demi god by his playthi... people.

Kim Jong-il is even recorded as having a heavenly birth. The Korean dictator was allegedly born atop the sacred mountain - Paektu - while his father was busy fighting the Japanese, presumably with his bare fists while sporting a Rambo inspiring bandanna.

Talking of Rambo's bandanna. The people of Korea were led to believe that Mr Kim was a fashion sensation, wowing the West with his swagger and that one of his supernatural gifts meant that he didn't defecate.

There been an awful lot of stories that emerge in the western press about the superhuman feats of the now deceased leader and it is difficult to separate the genuine KNCA reports from the urban legends that are printed. The one thing that is true though is that all of the stories are lies, regardless of their origin, and that the KNCA does produce ridiculous claims about their leaders.

Some of the superhuman claims include that he scored a very impressive 34 on his first ever round of golf, a feat that included an incredible 11 hole in ones, each of which were verified by the 17 security guards watching. If it wasn't good enough for you then perhaps changing the weather based on one's mood might suffice? That was the claim. Kim Jong-il was so powerful that even the weather was under his command.

Even after his death, the KCNA pushed some pretty crazy stories about their ex-leader. The news agency reported that the sky turned red and the volcanic underbelly of Paektu roared louder than ever before at the moment of his death. Pretty impressive considering nobody else in the world saw or heard it.

The list of other achievements is pretty impressive and a few of them can be found here.

I have been described as a sportsman with the brain of an athlete and the body of a scientist. Since it was established that playing wouldn't work out for me I have taken to writing.
