The next time you go to buy that Motörhead vibrator, just remember to be thankful that you live in a world free of judgement. It wasn't always like that. Back in the 1880s, the United States Postal Service seized over 64,836lbs of "immoral rubber goods". Those were the words of Anthony Comstock, the big spoilsport.

Previously a salesman, Comstock had a major hang up about sex toys and didn't believe they should be sent via post. He was the one who imposed a ban on the delivery of all items in question, and he didn't do things by half measures.

Within 12 months, Ant had captured over 60,000 offending articles.

Arrest was even threatened for those who dared send the materials via Comstock's beloved postal service. One can only imagine what Mr. Comstock would think of the world today, where companies like Lovehoney rake in cold hard cash online for something he despised.

Someone told us about that company, we uh... never mind.
