10 Interesting Multiclass Options To Improve Your Dungeons & Dragons Character
6. Ranger/Paladin
Another great option for those bored of the straight up Ranger class.
Adding a Paladin oath can lead to some interesting roleplaying moments, without having to compromise too much on the whole archetypal Ranger thing. There are plenty of wild/nature gods to choose from in the player's handbook, and can lead to a uniquely motivated character that doesn't rely on the good old "my family was murdered" trope. Imagine Bear Grylls if he was also a priest. Actually, "Father Bear" sounds a bit dodgy thinking about it...
On top of that, from a gameplay perspective, the Paladin bonuses gives the Ranger the option of becoming a deadly close quarters combatant, which, again, is helpful if you're tired of thwacking enemies with arrows all the time.
In fact, by choosing the dual wielding specialty, plus the Ranger's extra attack feature, its possible to do three attacks per round, all with Hunter's mark damage. Add that with the Paladin's Smite spell, and you'll feel so powerful you won't even notice the look of utter disgust your DM gives you as you smash his favourite monster to pieces.
