Appearing on the podcast shortly before COVID-19 fully had its clutches on the UK and USA, Osterholm discussed how he had predicted a global pandemic, and urged world governments to put steps in place for such an event. Not taking his advice, everyone carried on as normal until normality would spell disaster for countless people across the globe.

Already, since the episode from March 2020, so much has changed, and at the time of writing, much of the world is in isolation. Another episode with the virologist would be a great way for a public service announcement to reach a large number of people.

Osterholm can share his thoughts on the developments in governmental strategies in tackling the pandemic, the prospect of a vaccine - and given the nature of the viral mutation, whether it’s even necessary - as well as discussing what is next for the world.

Hopefully, more pre-emptive measures will be put in place once the risk has decreased, and informing more people will provide an opportunity for more pressure to be put on those in power to prevent another situation like the one we are currently in.
