10 Mind-Blowing Pieces Of Evidence That Proves Lost City Of Atlantis Was Real
1. The Aftermath Of The Destruction
Finally, Plato’s description of the aftermath of the sinking of Atlantis is a good match for what must have occurred after the destruction of Thera. He claims that ‘the sea in those parts was impassable’ because of an enormous deposit of mud caused by the subsidence of the island.
It is known from more modern eruptions that the enormous amounts of ash released by a volcano generally settle on the surrounding sea. In the case of Krakatoa, for example, the ash made many miles of the sea surrounding the island essentially impassable.
The eruption of Thera was comparable to, if not larger than, Krakatoa. Therefore, it is a very fair assumption that enormous quantities of ash would have filled the sea for miles all around the island. This would be an excellent match for what Plato claimed about the area where Atlantis used to be.
