10 Most Embarrassing Presidential Nicknames In History
7. "Wobbly Willie" - William McKinley
The 25th President of the US, William McKinley had a whole host of nicknames - including "The Idol of Ohio", the "Napoleon of Protection" and the "Liberator of Cuba". Yet his most embarrassing nickname must certainly be that of "Wobbly Willie", due its obvious connotations. During his four years in office between 1897 and 1901, Republican McKinley was accused of being indecisive and of "flip-flopping" on such issues as tariffs, economic policy and dealings with the Spanish. Despite being elected to a second term, McKinley was assassinated by a second-generation Polish-American anarchist named Leon Czolgosz in September 1901 and was succeeded by his Vice-President, Theodore Roosevelt.
